Ololokwe

Whilst driving up north from Mt. Kenya into the open and arid Laikipia landscape, ones eye is quickly drawn to the odd pimple sticking out: Ololokwe. A 2-4 hours hike on elephant trails takes you to the top of the plateau from which you have an endless view over Samburu territory.

One can sleep at Sabache camp, either in your tent or their accommodation. This hike is best combined with a trip to other destinations in the region (e.g. Samuburu or Shaba) as it is about 7 hours from Nairobi.

Expert tip: The trails are still used by the resident elephants, keep your eyes open!
